The Song That Plays In My Heart

Writer's picture: Sadie YoungSadie Young

About 2 1/2 years ago, a dear friend who also happens to be a musician, put out an offer to create, craft, and write a song. I enthusiastically let him know that I was interested, and he in return sent me a survey of interest to compile my thoughts and ideas to begin this artistic journey with him on what would bring forth the song of the story of my life.

I looked at the survey for what seemed like hours on end, which in reality, was probably only a few minutes. I sat quietly and read each question. It was quite a process for me to fill out that survey. Divulging circumstances of my life that only very few people know about. The more I sat and thought about each of the main points which will be used to create the beautiful piece of music, I began to have feelings of nervousness, excitement, joy, elated ness, and probably more all wrapped into one big ball of yarn.

I finally finished the survey and sent it back to my friend and we set up an appointment to begin the magical creation. So much fun meeting with him and creating such a lovely masterpiece. We sat and talked about what my life is like and what I wanted for myself. The whole conversation lasted an hour and a half.

By the time we were done, my cheeks were sore from laughing so much!! That hadn’t happened for a very long time!! It felt really good to be able to tell my story. To let loose and let it all out without a care in the world. The process was magical. And by the end of the session, the creative process began. A few days later my friend sends me the finished product.

This song means the world to me. It gives me confidence. It brings me joy and happiness. I find solace when I listen to it. And sometimes I laugh. Other times I cry. Most of all it’s a reminder of how far I’ve come and to just keep going no matter what!! It is a sparkling gem that I will treasure forever!!
